José Cláudio Silva
José was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1978 and raised in Portugal where he graduated in Architecture in Lisbon in 2003 (Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa) having studied the last year in Barcelona – Spain (Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) under the Erasmus exchange programme. In 2003 he worked with his former professor Jordi Bellmunt, from Barcelona, and the landscape design office PROAP, for “Alamillo Park Design Competition” (Seville, Spain – 1st Prize). In early 2004 he joined his former professor Manuel Vicente atelier in Macau SAR where he worked in the design of Masterplans, Public Building’s and Urban Parks such as “Friendship Island Masterplan”, “Wisdom Island Masterplan”, “Hac-Sa Bay Masterplan”, “Leal Senado Tourism Office Headquarters”, “Nam Van Dragon Boat complex”, “Nam Van Urban Park”, “Renovation project for Quartel dos Mouros” heritage building, among other several smaller projects. In August 2005 he joined Aetec-Mo where worked in the design of “Jade Hotel-Casino” project and Public Buildings like “Sun Chu Mei Car Parking” and “Friendship Pot Office Station”, as well as other smaller residential and retail projects. He joined Aedas Hong Kong in December 2006 where he worked in the design of “Venetian Parcel 5&6”, in Macau, namely “St Regis Hotel and Serviced Apartment Tower”. In 2008 he joined Aedas Singapore as team leader for the design of “Skypark – Marina Bay Sands” and later as and team leader for Sentosa Boardwalk (construction phase). From early 2011 José has been working mainly in the design of Mixed-Use Developments (Masterplans and individual Residential/Office & Hotel Buildings) in Indonesia, namely “Tunjungan Plaza Parcels 4, 5 and 6”, in Surabaya, and “Mega Kuningan Tower”, in Jakarta. Has also participated in competitions for India Mixed- Use Projects (“Wave 2” in Noida – New Delhi) and competitions for public buildings in Singapore such as “Tampines People’s Association”, “Kaki Bukit Motorshop” complex, among others. From 2009 to 2011 he was tutor at NUS for the year 2 Studio under the Coordination of Professor Erik L’Hereux. Specifically in what regards Skypark, José was the team leader for its design in the role of Project Architect. He worked in the coordination of all design specialties involved namely Façade, Structural, MEP and Landscape and developed the design, details and specifications of the overall project. Also developed the documentation for construction, assisted in the tender interviews, produced tender recommendations, participated in the mockup reviews and inspections, site supervisions, material approvals, etc. Also assisted in the process for Temporary Occupancy Permit.
